Does anxiety affect you? Can you identify your anxiety in certain situations? Biodynamic therapy can help you identify and deal with your anxiety whatever is causing it. Anxiety is a natural emotional response to stressful situations and is a feeling that most people experience at some stage in their lives. Anxiety can help us prepare for challenges, like sitting an exam or interview, worrying about an awkward social occasion, or waiting on results from a medical procedure. All these circumstances are difficult.
What are the causes of anxiety?
What makes one person anxious may not create the same response in another person
1) A break-up
2) Concerns about work or exams
3) An argument with a friend
4) A long term illness
5) Short illness
6) Money worries
7) The seasons
Any of these things can make you feel anxious, worried, scared, or sick. While anxiety is a regular, everyday feeling, it can become a problem when you cannot see an obvious reason for that anxiety, or when anxious feelings persist for more than a couple of weeks. Biodynamic therapy can help you to see things more clearly and identify a possible cause for your anxiety. It can be good to talk it through with another without judgement and by talking it through you can work it out.
Effects of anxiety
Problems getting to sleep and staying asleep
Lack of concentration
Muscle tension and headaches
Trembling or shaking
Relaxation the biodynamic way
There are many ways to relax but sometimes we need help finding what suits us best. Various methods of relaxation suit different people. A lovely way to relax is to have a biodynamic treatment whereby the biodynamic massage methods can help the body and mind to leave behind those thoughts and feelings that do not serve you well. This treatment gives you time and space to concentrate on yourself and your own feeling of wellbeing.
Can you speak about your anxiety?
Can you identify your anxiety? When you bottle things up this can increase your feelings of anxiousness. Can you talk about what is making you feel anxious? In a biodynamic treatment the therapist is non-critical and non-judgmental with a therapeutic presence which does not interrupt you. This presence of another supports you to speak. All your symptoms are welcome - hopes, dreams, avoidance, memories and feelings which you can bring into each session.
Biodynamic psychotherapy and massage support your progress in your own timely way. This way of working can lead you to a genuine feeling of achievement. The simple act of talking to someone outside your situation can help you to get some perspective and become clear. If you find you are regularly stressed and have difficulty doing day-to-day tasks, the biodynamic massage may be helpful for you to find solutions.
How does it work?
The biodynamic therapy contract and framework can enable you to talk about things that affect you in any way. It can help you to re-experience and heal any incomplete cycles arising from your experiences in the past. The completion of emotional cycles is an essential aspect of biodynamic psychotherapy. All biodynamic treatments aim to restore *homeostasis and balance in every session.

*Homeostasis refers to the ability of the body or a cell to seek and maintain a condition of equilibrium or stability within its internal environment when dealing with external changes.

A holistic approach to healing through body, mind and soul
We often say “Rest in peace” when a person dies, but what if you could rest in peace while you are still alive? You may lead a busy life and have a lot on your mind, such as worries about family members, health, money, relationships, exams or the detail of something you need to work out or remember. Sometimes you may not be able to sleep because of all the thoughts going through your head.
Many things can make us feel uncomfortable in our bodies - pain, irritation, restlessness, nausea, panic. Sometimes we become numb, stuck in the freeze response, and don’t feel anything at all.
In Biodynamic Medicine we recognise the link between psyche and soma, mind and body. We recognise that the biochemical effects of shock or traumatic experiences often remain held in the body, and how we can eliminate these effects once and for all by completing emotional cycles. This means talking and working through here and now, in a safe environment, what we weren’t able to express or complete there and then so that we end the pattern of recycling negative thoughts, behaviour or relationships.
As well as this “talking therapy”, Biodynamic therapists work with specialised massage methods, to establish the psycho-peristalsis, the body’s innate healing mechanism which processes and eliminates the effects of stress or trauma. This can bring relaxation, a feeling of letting go, relief of pain, settling, and often feelings of bliss or “heaven on earth”
Rest can sometimes be seen as a waste of time, when in fact it is crucial for our wellbeing. If you are always busy and on the go, or don’t get enough sleep, your body does not have chance to process, rest and digest, recharge, to strengthen your immune system.
Biodynamic treatments can be helpful both in freeing your mind and allowing your body to sink into deep rest. There will often be an experience of "floating awareness" when the brain goes into alpha state, and it is as if you are asleep although aware of what is happening.
Rest in Natural Great Peace
Rest in natural great peace
This exhausted mind
Beaten helplessly by karma and neurotic thoughts
Like the relentless fury of the pounding waves
In the infinite ocean of samsara.
Rest in natural great peace.

You may suffer from anxiety, depression or other mental health issues, and being and feeling whole, means being connected to all of you .. body, mind and heart.
It is a scientific fact that our issues are stored in our tissues. All our emotions are in our body and we heal from within.
Biodynamic means that in a healthy body our energy is flowing naturally. This flow of energy can be interrupted by what has happened to us in our lives, and also what is happening in our present day lives. The more this flow is disturbed the unhealthier we may feel.
How this can happen
Many of us will have had traumatic or shocking experiences in our lives. These emotions can become encapsulated in our muscles. The muscles can become contracted and rigid which in turn can cause a build-up of tension and prevent emotions from being released.
This can happen as a result of our inability to express and it can build up over many years. Our instinct is to express feelings and it can be a physical feeling as well as a psychological feeling. If expression is stopped, tension builds up in the muscles. This physical and emotional tension affects our system, long after the original urge has been forgotten.
This tension in the body is known as armouring.
Your body is an important part of you
In a biodynamic treatment the therapist works with all of the body, muscles, tissues, joints, and the breath.
Using our unique method of placing a stetescope on the abdomen and listening to the sounds of the gut (psycho-peristalsis) this powerful massage can encourage the body to digest emotional stress. http://www.biodynamic.org/what-is/what-is-psycho-peristalsis
The armouring I spoke about earlier is like an onion with many layers and can be dissolved over a series of regular treatments. https://www.sligobiodynamic.com/treatments/
The process of having biodynamic therapy during cancer treatment or after hearing about a cancer diagnosis can help cancer patients, their family members or close friends to have space to digest this life changing experience.
A Biodynamic treatment helps to flush toxins out of the body and prevent them from settling in the same location or elsewhere in the body.
In each biodynamic session we are mindful of the effects of the build-up of stress, howsoever caused, and of the importance of natural and progressive emptying or detoxification - the release and elimination of all toxins out of all organs and tissues - where and if such effects are indicated.
This natural process leads to feelings of cleansing, relaxation, peace and relief.
The range of therapeutic methods developed by Gerda Boyesen are primarily designed to optimise the emptying of energetic nervous fluid as a fundamental aim in all sessions.
Often a person remains in a state of shock from the diagnosis of cancer. Biodynamic Massage is a gentle, consoling and reassuring treatment and can help to alleviate anxiety, stress and give hope for a future.
It is designed to help the body to empty and eliminate toxic elements of chemotherapy and thereby strengthen the immune system and promote the circulation for blood, lymph and oxygen. Biodynamic massage can be incorporated safely and beneficially within all existing physical, psychosomatic, psychological, medical and energy based clinical treatments. It brings a practical and efficient additional dimension to all treatment and psychotherapy protocols and can profoundly assist in the relief of psychological, physical and emotional pain.
Being listened to
What difference does it make?
It can be a very positive experience for many people. In a therapeutic situation you are giving yourself the luxury of time, time where you will be treated as a whole person in a non-judgemental environment.Read More
